Cannabis and Diabetes

One simple fact about Cannabis that is it balances your body’s own growth and healing rhythms. Cannabis has the ability to dial down the body’s immune system’s inflammatory response to infection and swelling. Since Cannabis is a natural antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory substance, the immune system has less to deal with, making recover time from injury shorter. In essence, skipping a step to the healing process. Cannabidiol (CBD) is the Cannabinoid that is responsible for the anti-inflammatory response and is also anti-psychoactive where Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is psychoactive. These two substances have a slightly opposite effect on each other keeping your brain chemistry in balance. Think about it like this: it’s a fail-safe system, which is the reason why you can never OD smoking or eating Cannabis. You can only get so high from smoking Cannabis, your brain will not allow serotonin and dopamine  levels to become toxic. This natural control mechanism is what I personality believe is the key to how Cannabis can treat any illness.

Most folks that smoke or have eaten Cannabis on a daily basis have noticed a decrease in appetite, as though Cannabis is somehow giving the body all that it needs for nutrition. This natural effect of Cannabis is more prevalent with someone who is overweight. Even if you are over weight and consuming more calories than needed you tend to lose weight. Cannabis works in the opposite fashion by increasing one’s appetite if underweight, hence why we prescribe Cannabis to AIDS and cancer patients. This natural response of Cannabis to restore one’s natural body harmony is key to understand why Cannabis can do so many wonderful things. It’s no surprise to read that Cannabis can be used to treat diabetes, and other illnesses like migraine headaches.

A published article in The American Journal of Medicine, shows this “two faced” relationship Cannabis has on weight and diabetes. In short, the article accurately describes how Cannabis controls insulin levels for diabetes subjects that fasted for 9 hours. The study concluded that: Cannabis users are less likely to become obese. Cannabis smokers tend to have a better metabolic rate for digestion and sugar control IE: Cannabis controls the energy intake and distribution though out your body. Endocannabinoids are the Cannabis like Cannabinoids that your body already produces. The study also suggests that Cannabinoid receptors deep in the brain are responsible for the way Cannabis plays a role in controlling one’s weight and insulin levels. This finding is very important because, this means that Cannabis can be used to treat Hypoglycemia as well.

The key to how Cannabis can control blood sugar levels and weight is the CB1 receptor. In the 1980s researchers identified the CB1 Cannabinoid receptor. Cannabinoid receptors come in two varieties, called CB1 and CB2.  Most of your CB1 receptors are in your brain, and are responsible for the ”high” you get from smoking Cannabis. CB2 receptors, often associated with the immune system, and are found all over the body. Repeated use of Cannabis makes the CB1 receptors less sensitive, meaning the weaken CB1 receptors are dialing down the appetite response. Daniele Piomelli, a professor of pharmacology at the University of California, Irvine, says “This has been shown to happen in people who smoke marijuana. This weakening of CB1 receptor translates into a lower risk for obesity and diabetes because the inactive receptor would be unable to respond to our own cannabis-like molecules, which we know are important in keeping us chubby.” Cannabis might spike our appetite initially, over time it gets dialed down naturally. Wow what a cool side effect for a drug.

There you have it folks...another use for the oldest medicine on earth !!!!!!
Now maybe you will discover like millions of others have already done. Cannabis is really a cure all medicine that happens to be the best preventative medicine as well.

Consuming Raw Cannabis

I've eaten raw Cannabis flowers and leaves for years and didn’t know they were good for me. The smaller leaves around the flowers are slightly sweet, but they get caught at the back of your tongue LOL!  That is because the leaves have little barbs on them and have a rough texture. The larger leaves not so nice to chew on either. I kept munching on them regardless. Funny thing is, my dog liked eating them as well. Maybe my dog somehow knew consuming raw Cannabis was good for her as I knew it was good for me. For those animal lovers out there, no harm was caused to the dog. I stopped letting her eat the leaves, thinking they might be bad for her, like how onions are bad for dogs.

The health benefits of consuming raw Cannabis and juice are: non-psychoactive, anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, antioxidant, antiviral, antifungal, and anticancer. It is particularly effective when treating breast cancer. What an amazing plant and it happens to be the most non-toxic one as well !!! Consuming raw Cannabis has great nutritional value and is: well balanced with all essential fatty acids, amino acids and Cannabinoid acids. Since Cannabis juice is very harsh tasting, it is usually combined with vegetable and or fruit juice and can even be mixed into a smoothy.

One of the drawl backs to juicing raw Cannabis is: Few people can afford to keep a garden full of plants to juice every day. It takes a lots of Cannabis leaves to make a small amount of juice. Also, the juice only takes a few days to spoil, as it turns from a emerald green to brown. None the less, this new way of using nature's most useful plant, opens up new avenues of treating common illnesses with herbal remedies...when main stream media catches up.

How Cannabinoids work
Cannabinoids are the active substances that produce Cannabis’s medicinal effects. Cannabis contains 60+ Cannabinoids. THC and CBD are the two most potent
Cannabis is curing my cancer...
Cannabinoids THC is psychoactive and CBD is non-psychoactive. Think of each Cannabinoid as a separate link in a chain. The chain completes a circle. If one of the links are removed from the chain, then the circuit is broken and the medicinal effect is lost. All of the Cannabinoids (links) have to be present in the drug to produce the desired affects. This is the main reason why pharmaceutical companies have a hard time trying to isolate certain properties of the plant to make medicine out of it...it just doesn’t work. Cannabis in its natural form works the best. Raw Cannabis is very different than dried Cannabis. THC and CBD are THCa (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) and CBDa (cannabidiolic acid). Neither THCa or CBDa are psychoactive, meaning there is no high associated with the plant. It is only until the flowers are dried and or heated, that these two components turn into THC and CBD.

Raw Cannabis is very useful for people who want Cannabis’s medicinal effects but don’t want the high associated with the plant. When consuming raw Cannabis you get many more times the medicinal affects than dried Cannabis. Smoked Cannabis you get 10% medicinal value. Eating dried Cannabis you get 60% the medicinal value. Eating raw Cannabis you get 600 times the medicinal value.

The Power of Raw CannabisCannabis does not discriminate
Of the over 200 cell types in our bodies that we have, Cannabis will destroy any unhealthy type. We shed skin cells internally and externally. A good example of how Cannabis sheds unhealthy skin cells is: Cannabis and Hemp oil. Both are the best moisturizers on the planet. Cannabis oil does something that no other moisturizers do. Cannabis oil heals the underlying skin and sheds dead and or dying skin cells. This natural bodily effect is called Apoptosis, where the cells are programmed to die. If a cell is passed its "expiry date" and tries to save it's self, cancer might result. When treating cancer with CBD Cannabis oil, the cancer tumor isn't shrinking, the cancer cells are dying off naturally. Cancer is not a disease. Cancer is a deficiency of the Endocannabinoid system. Our body produces Endocannabinoids. Endocannabinoids naturally fights off diseases and kills bad cells every day. The Cannabinoids in Cannabis are very similar to the Endocannabinoids your body already produce. By consuming Cannabis you are giving you body the ability to do something that it already does, just better.

As we age, our metabolism slows down naturally. Our eyesight gets weaker, our mobilization slows down. Our memory isn't as sharp as it once was. It's no wonder why so many people are effected by age related illnesses. Cannabis and Hemp are an all natural way, for your body to restore it's harmony and slow down the aging process.

It's very interesting to note that: THC is what makes Cannabis illegal. If it was not for this one simple fact, then Hemp would be illegal as well. CBD is not illegal and can be purchased at any health food store. Hemp contains <3 % THC, at these very low levels, THC will not have any noticeable psychoactive (high) effect on any person. Since raw Cannabis has no THC, instead it contains THCa, Cannabis should be considered as a medicine and food supplement just like Hemp

I wonder if my dog would have been alive today if I kept letting her eat raw Cannabis leaves. She suffered from seizures and were sometimes severe. After knowing what I know now about Cannabis...should I have kept letting her eat the leaves?. Makes you wonder how many people could have been saved if…

What is Hemp?

To really understand what Hemp is, you have to first understand what Cannabis is. There are three main varieties of Cannabis: Sativa, Indica and Ruderalis. The Sativa and Indica varieties contain high levels of THC and are used for medicine and recreational purposes. The Ruderails variety has low levels of THC and is a very small plant with small flowers. Ruderalis is only used to create the Hemp variety. Hemp is a variety of the Cannabis Sativa plant that is cross bread with the Ruderalis variety. The result is a plant that looks like a Sativa, and has low THC like the Ruderalis. Hemp is the same plant as Cannabis Sativa minus the THC. The reason why the Sativa strain was used to make the Hemp variety, is because it has a long thick stalk. The stalk and the seeds is what is important. Cross breeding is nothing new. Man has been making different varieties fruits and vegetables for a long time. For instance, a Grapefruit is a cross between and orange and a pomelo. The outer fiber of the Hemp stalk is used to make paper and clothing and the inner stalk (Hurd) is used for building materials. When the female Hemp plant is pollinated it produces seeds which are high in Omega fatty acids and protein. The seeds can be used to make Hemp oil and protein powder.

The name Hemp is used when describing either psychoactive Cannabis that makes you high or non-psychoactive Hemp. The name Hemp is generally used to describe both. Very confusing hey? For simplicity reasons we will call it by it's scientific name Cannabis and forget about calling it Marijuana or weed. Now are you very confused? LOL

Hemp originated in Central Asia and spread to China, India, Europe and eventually North America. It is believed that Cannabis has been around for millions of years. For more than 10,000 years Cannabis has been used for medicine and food. The history of Hemp goes back to 8000 BC where the Chinese used Hemp to make paper and textiles. The Chinese were the first people to discover the medical uses of Cannabis. Cannabis is called Mai by the Chinese meaning, plant with two forms or two sexes. Back then and even today, Hemp is used for medical, religious and social practices. Every day new uses for Hemp are discovered.

The history of Hemp

Hemp fiber is the strongest and softest natural fiber on the planet. Hemp is superior to cotton in every way possible. Hemp yields more product then cotton and less land is required to grow Hemp. Hemp does not need harsh chemicals to grow it. Hemp is naturally disease and mold resistant. The Chinese were the first to learn the art of making paper. Paper invented by ancient Chinese in the 2nd century B.C. and spread slowly to the West. The U.S. Declaration of Independence was written on Hemp paper. Before we had petrochemicals, plastics and synthetic drugs, Hemp was used to make these products and many more.

Christopher Columbus brought Hemp seeds from Europe to North America so if they got ship wrecked along the way, the crew would have a source of food they could grow. Christopher Columbus traded with the Indians and provided them with Hemp seeds to grow crops.

Before the 1930s Hemp oil (psychoactive Cannabis) extracts were used to treat everything from menstrual cramps to migraine headaches and even cancer. Hemp is making a huge come back...again. As people learn of it's usages and that the plant is not evil and scary as we were led to believe from 1930 to present day. The U.S. banned Cannabis / Hemp production in 1937 because Hemp was in direct competition with greedy industrialists. Hemp threatened the pharmaceutical, oil, paper and textile industries.

The first Ford car was originally designed to run on fuel made from Hemp and the plastics were also made from Hemp. Hemp plastic is 10 times stronger than steel and doesn't bend or buckle like steel. Plastic today is half oil from the ground, half chemicals. Hemp plastic is bio-degradable unlike the plastic we use now. There are many kinds of Hemp plastic; from standard plastic reinforced with Hemp fibers, to 100% Hemp plastic made from Hemp oil. Hemp fibers make the plastic stronger and lighter. Now we have carbon fiber to replace what Hemp plastic used to do.

New uses for Hemp are being discovered often. Today body builders are switching to Hemp protein powder because it is pure with no chemicals. Hemp protein is generally the left overs from pressing the oil out of the Hemp seeds. The oil is pressed out of the seeds using “cold press” technology, this way, the oil and it nutrients are preserved. Currently many manufactures of seed oil (soybean) use chemicals to extract the oil. Houses are made from Hemp hurd (the inner core of the stalk) and lime to produce a concrete like wall structure. Sound proofing and fire retardant insulation can be made from Hemp fibers. Hemp is also made it’s way into the high performance sports car manufacturing. The Lotus Elise body panels are being made out of Hemp fiber because the material is light weight and strong.

Hemp seeds contain all of the necessary components for human life. Hemp is high in protein and contains all nine of the essential amino acids. Hemp is rich in Omega fatty acids and contains vitamin E and trace minerals. Every part of the Hemp plant is edible, the leaves and stems, the flowers and seeds. Consuming Hemp oil is the best way to get all of the benefits from the plant.

Hemp is the most non-toxic plant on Earth. Hemp oil is the best natural moisturizer there is. I have used Hemp oil as a moisturizer myself. The main benefit I noticed was that Hemp oil seems to lift dead skin off of healthy skin, with no need to exfoliate the skin as the oil does it all for you. Hemp oil is a natural anti inflammatory and a natural antibiotic when consumed orally. When Hemp oil or Hemp Hearts are consumed on a daily basis it can help with a variety of health problems.

Below is a short list of aliments that Hemp/Cannabis have a beneficial effect on...
Acne, addiction, allergies, Alzheimer’s disease, angina (chest pain), angioedema (swelling under the skin), arthritis,  antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anxiety prevention, appetite stimulant, asthma, migraine headaches, spinal cord injury, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autoimmune diseases, bipolar disorder (mental disorder), blood thinner, bronchodilation (widens airways and eases breathing), burns, cancer (all types of cancer including skin cancer), candidiasis (yeast infection), circulation improvement, constipation, cough, detoxification (removal of toxins), diabetes, digestive aid, diuretic (improves urine flow), dystonia (muscle disorder), energy metabolism, fatigue, gastric acid secretion stimulation (increases stomach acid), general health maintenance, genitourinary tract disorders (disorders of the reproductive and urinary systems), hair growth promoter, heart disease, high blood pressure, hormone regulation, immune suppression, increased muscle mass, increasing breast milk, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), intermittent claudication (pain in arms or legs due to inadequate oxygen), interstitial cystitis (bladder disorder), irregular heartbeat, leukemia (cancer of blood cells), lipid lowering (cholesterol and triglycerides), liver protection, lymph flow enhancement, menopausal symptoms, muscle relaxation, nausea and vomiting, nerve disorders, neural tube defects (birth defects), osteoporosis (bone loss), painful menstruation, pregnancy and labor, psychosis, rheumatism (joint disease), sedative, sexual performance, skin conditions, stomach spasms, stroke, tendinitis, uterine stimulant, varicose veins, vitamin C deficiency, weight gain (patients with HIV or cancer), wound healing.

Hemp cultivation is banned in the United States however the rest of the world marches on with it’s use. Hemp cultivation and production is wide spread throughout the rest of the world. The U.S. is the only industrialized nation in the world that does not cultivate Hemp.
